Frédéric Mitterrand is a former French Minister of Culture and Communication. Throughout his career, he has been an actor, screenwriter, television presenter, writer, director and producer of film and television. He studied at the Lycée Janson de Sailly and at the Faculty of Letters of Nanterre and has a doctorate in history and geography. After three years at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (IEP) as Professor of economics, history and geography, passionate moviegoer Mitterrand began his career as a theatrical manager. In the early '80s, he worked as a producer, director and presenter of television. From 1997-2006 he ran a literary program on Europe 1, and from 2002-2006, the talk show It said on France-Culture. From 2003-2005, he took the role as Deputy CEO in charge of programming on TV5. As a filmmaker, Mitterrand directed feature films including: Love Letters in Somalia, Lights of Lausanne, Paris vu par, twenty years after, Madame Butterfly. As a writer, he has published among others, Somalia Love Letters (1982), All Desires Together (1988) Fates of stars (tI, 1991 T.II and III, 1992), de Gaulle Years (1995) Eagles swoon (1997), Memoirs of Exile (1999), A Day in the century (2000), Bad Life (2005) and The Cannes Film Festival (2006). In the press, has written articles for magazines and TV-pocket Tetu. Mitterrand has held various responsibilities as Commissioner General of the Tunisian season in France (1996), in Morocco (1999) and the Czech Season (2002). He chaired from 1998-2000 the Commission Fonds Sud for the National Centre for Cinematography (CNC) and from 2001-2003 the Commission. From 2008-2009, he directed the Académie de France in Rome: "Villa Medici".
