Oswald Metzger is one of Germany's most controversial politicians and a sought-after advisor on economics and finance. After studying law at the University of Tübingen, Oswald Metzger set up his own typing business in 1980. He initially found his political home in the SPD, which he left after five years of membership. From 1987 to 2007 he was a member of the Green Party. He became known nationwide as their budgetary spokesman in the German Bundestag from 1994 to 2002. From 2006 to 2008, he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg and spokesman on financial policy for his parliamentary group. After leaving the Greens on the grounds that he could no longer support their economic and social policy course, Metzger has become a member of the CDU. Since then, he has been active in the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (MIT), and from 2010 to 2016 he was deputy state chair of the MIT Baden-Württemberg. Between 2011 and 2015, Metzger was also a member of the state executive committee of the CDU Baden-Württemberg.
