Sport Psychologist of the German National Football Team (2004-2024)

Prof Dr Hans-Dieter Hermann has been working as a sports psychologist in high-performance sport and as a coach in companies for 30 years. He advises top executives in the German economy from DAX, MDAX and TEC-DAX companies, as well as traditional family businesses and also politicians. Competitive athletes, professional teams and trainers also rely on his psychological support in stress and pressure situations. He became known to a wider public primarily through his many years of work as a sports psychologist for the German national football team, where he was also a member of the closest coaching staff when the team won the 2014 World Cup. He had already been active in sport for many years before that and spent several years coaching the Austrian ski racers, the German national men's gymnastics, boxing and hockey teams as well as a large number of medallists at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships. Hans-Dieter Hermann is co-managing director and owner of ‘Coaching Competence Cooperation’, a consulting and diagnostics institute that focuses on optimising the performance requirements of managers and teams. Hans-Dieter Hermann is the winner of the German Psychological Society's sponsorship award and teaches as an honorary professor at the University of Tübingen and as a professor at the German University for Prevention and Health Management in Saarbrücken. He has appeared on camera several times as a ZDF expert at the Olympic Games and commented on the sporting events. Hans-Dieter Hermann is the author and co-author of numerous books and publications, primarily on the topics of leadership, change, motivation, teams and stress. In his keynote speeches, he often uses comparisons and examples from competitive sport.
